PepsiCo has picked C.D. Glin to serve as its new VP and Global Head of Philanthropy for The PepsiCo Foundation, effective May 17, 2021.

He will report to the global beverage and food behemoth’s EVP of Global Communications and PepsiCo Foundation President, Jon Banner.

As the man in charge of the daily management of Pepsi’s corporate foundation, he will oversee its strategic direction and focus on building a sustainable food system. He will also lead global engagement around The PepsiCo Foundation's three core pillars: Nutrition, Water, and Economic Resilience.

"We are thrilled to welcome C.D. Glin to PepsiCo as we step up our efforts to deliver positive change for people and the planet," Banner stated. He added that Glin’s “expertise across food and nutritional security and good water stewardship will be an asset to PepsiCo, our Foundation, and all of the communities we serve."

Glin joins Pepsi at an important time as consumers are increasingly becoming value-driven and use their purchasing power to support brands they identify as socially responsible. In fact, 83% of Millennials find it important for the companies they buy from to align with their values. And this isn’t just about retaining customers, as 71% of Millennials will actually pay more for a product if they know some of the proceeds go to charity. This means that brands, like Pepsi, can actually boost sales by forging a positive corporate identity.

Glin most recently served as the President and CEO of the U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF), an Africa-focused philanthropic organization established by Congress to fund and scale sustainable local solutions for underserved and agricultural-dependent populations. Prior to that, Glin was an Associate Director at The Rockefeller Foundation, where he led a $130 million effort to improve incomes and create jobs for smallholder farmers by reducing post-harvest crop loss and promoting sustainable sourcing in agriculture value chains.

"I am proud and humbled to join PepsiCo's philanthropy team, which is renowned for its high-impact programs that tackle the challenges facing the global food system and supporting local communities," Glin commented. "I look forward to building on my global experience in philanthropy at the food, energy, and water nexus to advance social impact initiatives in support of PepsiCo's Winning with Purpose strategy."

News of Glin's new job follows an announcemnt from archrival Coca-Cola. Earlier this week, the beverage company named Saadia Madsbjerg as its VP of Global Community Affairs and President of The Coca-Cola Foundation.
