Janine Mapurunga

Janine Mapurunga, MFA, is a versatile artist and photographer with a diverse portfolio spanning freelance photojournalism, community art initiatives, and documentary projects. Currently serving as an Artist in Residence with Redwood Parks Conservancy and freelancing for Solving Sacramento, Janine also founded Bien Juntitos, focusing on the stories of Spanish-speaking elders, and Sacramento Farmers and Chefs, highlighting the local food culture. Other notable roles include founding Maria Canta, an artisan home decor line, and leading various photographic projects for corporate and nonprofit clients. Janine holds a Master in Fine Arts from Universitat de Barcelona, a BA in Socio-Cultural Anthropology from University of California, Davis, and an AA in Photography from Sacramento City College.
