Pekka Suomalainen

Pekka Suomalainen currently serves as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Säästöpankkiryhmä, overseeing ICT and information security for the Group, while also being a member of the central management team and the owner of the core bank renewal program. With extensive experience in leading technological development and digital strategies, Pekka has played pivotal roles in various projects involving vendor selection, technology evaluation, and contract negotiations. Previous positions include Head of Infrastructure Management and Head of Infrastructure Architecture at Oy Samlink Ab, as well as key roles at Exaget Ltd. and Nokia, where responsibilities spanned from content quality assurance to leading developer programs. Pekka holds a Master’s degree in Telecommunications from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan and has completed vocational education in financial and insurance fields.
