Karl Karlsson

Karl Karlsson is the founder and CEO of 3Z Pharmaceuticals, a position held since March 2008, where leadership encompasses R&D, venture capital outreach, and marketing. In addition, Karlsson serves on the Science and Innovation Council for the Prime Minister's Office since July 2023 and has been a professor and associate professor at Reykjavik University since January 2006, focusing on research and teaching in the Biomedical Engineering department, particularly on the neurobiology of sleep using zebrafish. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral position at UCLA Health from January 2005 to January 2006, conducting studies on hypocretin and melanin concentrating hormone regulation. Karlsson holds a PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Iowa.
