Director, Intellectual Property & Corporate Counsel at 4D Molecular Therapeutics

Tulip Mahaseth has extensive work experience in the field of intellectual property law and corporate counsel. They are currently working at 4D Molecular Therapeutics as the Director of Intellectual Property & Corporate Counsel since April 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Synthego Corporation from April 2020 to February 2022, where they managed the company's patent portfolio, patent litigation, and contract negotiations. Before that, Tulip held positions at Bozicevic, Field & Francis LLP as an Associate, and Foley & Lardner LLP as an Associate. They also worked as an Invention Associate at the Innovation and New Ventures Office and as a Summer Associate at Foley & Lardner LLP. Tulip gained teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant for Communication and Legal Reasoning I&II at Northwestern University School of Law and as a Teaching Assistant for Molecular Genetics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. They also worked as a Judicial Extern to Hon. V. Raymond Swope at the Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo. Tulip started their career as a Research Intern at the Institute of Toxicology Research in Lucknow, India, where they conducted experimental research and presented project progress reports.

Tulip Mahaseth's education history starts in 2006 when they earned a Master's Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. Then, from 2010 to 2012, they pursued another Master's Degree in Microbiology, General at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. They continued their studies at the same university and acquired a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Microbiology, General from 2010 to 2015. Finally, Tulip attended Northwestern University School of Law from 2015 to 2018, where they obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.), cum laude.

In addition to their educational achievements, Tulip Mahaseth has also obtained several certifications. They became a Registered Patent Attorney from the USPTO in January 2019 and was admitted as an Attorney to the State Bar of California in December 2018. In July 2018, they also became a Registered Patent Agent from the USPTO.
