Wolfgang Pita-Thomas

Associate Director of Clinical Science at 4D Molecular Therapeutics

Wolfgang Pita-Thomas has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Wolfgang is currently the Associate Director of Clinical Science at 4D Molecular Therapeutics since April 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Associate Medical Science Liaison at Allergan from October 2019 to April 2022. From September 2013 to October 2019, they served as a Staff Scientist at Washington University in St. Louis.

During their early career, Wolfgang held several positions as a Postdoctoral Associate. Wolfgang worked at the University of Miami from January 2011 to September 2013, where their research focused on growth cone dynamics, microRNA expression in retinal ganglion cells, and serotoninergic receptors. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Associate at the National Hospital for Paraplegics in Toledo, Spain, where they studied factors responsible for axonal regeneration in adult deer antlers and the effect of static magnetic fields on the motor cortex.

Wolfgang's earliest work experience includes being a Pre-Doctoral Fellow at the National Hospital de Paraplejicos de Toledo from June 2005 to June 2009. Wolfgang also worked as a Master of Neuroscience at Instituto Cajal, CSIC from 2002 to 2005, where they focused on developing an in vitro model of reactive astrocytes. Prior to that, they served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Instituto Cajal from March 2002 to June 2003.

Wolfgang Pita-Thomas obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2002. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology at the same university, completing their studies in 2009.
