Victor Calderon, Ph.D.

Victor Calderon, Ph.D. has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. Victor currently works as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at 5x5 Technologies Inc., where they are responsible for developing end-to-end training and validation pipelines for computer vision projects in the telecommunications sector. Victor has also developed automatic equipment identification models using supervised deep learning and point clouds. Additionally, they have implemented MLOps pipelines for different types of ML models.

Prior to their current role, Victor worked as a Data Scientist at HCA Healthcare, where they applied their skills in data analysis and interpretation.

Victor's academic background includes working as a Graduate Research Assistant at Vanderbilt University, where they implemented regression analysis and ran cosmological simulations to study galaxy formation and evolution. Victor also analyzed astronomical data and developed packages and tools for data analysis. During their time at Vanderbilt, they also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.

Before their time at Vanderbilt, Victor gained research experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Florida Institute of Technology, where they focused on applying statistical methods to determine physical parameters of RR-Lyrae stars. Victor also worked as a Summer Research Intern at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they worked on the design and fabrication of an electrospray system for producing sub-micron glass droplets. Victor developed mathematical models and algorithms to understand the physical characteristics of borosilicate glass.

From 2013 to 2019, they attended Vanderbilt University, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Physics. Victor'sfield of study was Physics.

Prior to that, they studied at the Florida Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2013. During this time, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Astrophysics, Physics, and Mathematics.

In addition to their formal education, Victor Calderon also obtained a certification in "Building LLM Applications from scratch into Production" from Maven in May 2023.
