Stefan Bortnowski Tornatzky has been working in the engineering industry since 2009. From 2009 to 2014, they worked as a Job Coach and Teaching Assistant at Perkins School for the Blind. From 2014 to 2017, they were a Lab Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where they were responsible for restructuring the Introduction to Engineering Lab to include CNC and 3D printing technology. Stefan also assembled Shapeoko CNC machines with custom enclosures, and designed a low-cost, reusable 3D paste extruder. From 2017 to 2022, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer II at CCI, where they were responsible for the complete mechanical design life-cycle of multiple concurrent RF filters and antenna components with a focus on creative solutions to assembly, manufacturing, and repairability. Stefan also generated detailed parts, assembly designs, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks CAD. Additionally, they collaborated cross-functionally with electrical engineers, assembly and testing technicians, and international partners to improve design and manufacturing processes. Since 2022, they have been working as a Mechanical System Engineer at 6K.
Stefan Bortnowski Tornatzky obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell between 2011 and 2014. Prior to this, they studied Mechanical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute between 2009 and 2011. Before that, they obtained their High School Diploma from Boston College High School in 2009.
