Maria Burns Ortiz

CEO and Co-Founder at 7 Generation Games

Maria Burns Ortiz is an award-winning journalist who has worked in a variety of roles since 2004. Maria began their career as an Editorial Assistant in the Editorial Projects Department at Sports Illustrated. In 2005, they became a Sports Reporter for Knight Ridder's "The News-Sentinel," covering daily sports from prep to pro levels. In 2010, they became a Visiting Lecturer at Tufts University. From 2011-2013, they were a Social Media Columnist at ESPN, and from 2014-present, they have been the Co-Author of the best-selling "My Fight/Your Fight" with Ronda Rousey, published by Regan Arts. In 2013, Ortiz became the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of 7 Generation Games, an educational software company. In 2020, they became a Teaching Artist at The Loft Literary Center.

Maria Burns Ortiz attended New York University from 2000 to 2003, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.
