Maria Ahlström-Bondestam is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in leadership and humanitarian efforts. Currently serving as a Member of The Supervisory Board and Member of the Nomination Committee at A. Ahlström Oy, Maria is also the Honorary Chair and Co-Founder of the Eva Ahlström Foundation, which supports underprivileged families, particularly women and children. In addition, Maria holds the position of Chair of the UNICEF International Council, providing a global platform for major donors, and is a Member of the Supervisory Board at HelsinkiMissio. As Co-Founder and Chair of Ahlström Collective Impact, Maria collaborates with UNICEF to address global social issues through strategic investments. Maria's past roles include Co-Founder of Ladies For Peace and HAPPY, and Member of the Board for both the August Ludvig Hartwalls Stiftelse-Säätiö and the International School of Milan in Modena. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Helsinki School of Nursing, a Marketing Degree from Markkinointi-instituutti, and studies at Malmö University.

A. Ahlström is a strategic industrial owner with core investments in the global space of forest and fiber technologies. We are a family-owned company with a long history of more than 170 years. Our current portfolio includes privately held companies M&J Recycling A/S, Munksjö Paper AB, Ahlström Invest B.V. (including a significant ownership in Ahlstrom Oyj), Bast Fibre Technologies Inc, and GPV Group A/S. In addition, significant holdings in listed companies Detection Technology Plc, Glaston Corporation and Suominen Corporation.
