Damaris Herron-Watkins

Damaris Herron-Watkins has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Damaris is currently the Director of Finance and Administration at A Better Chance, where they lead the organization's financial and administrative functions. Damaris also serves as a Finance Manager at the same company, where they manage accounting, payroll processing, and HR administration. In addition, they are an Official Member of the Forbes Finance Council. Damaris previously owned their own business, Kadence Box, and worked as a Blogger at Shopaholic's Closet. Damaris also has experience as a Foundation Finance Specialist at LaGuardia Community College, a Staff Accountant at Harlem RBI, and a Finance Associate at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Damaris began their career as an Operations Associate at Concerts of Prayer and later worked as a Jr. Staff Accountant at N. Cheng & Co., P.C. Damaris also held the role of Accounting & Office Associate at Concerts of Prayer Greater.

Damaris Herron-Watkins completed their Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics at Queens College from 2004 to 2008. Damaris then pursued a Masters of Science in Psychology with a focus on Educational Psychology at Capella University from 2010 to 2012. Continuing their education, they enrolled at Capella University again from 2013 to 2016 to pursue their ABD (All But Dissertation) in Psychology with a specialization in Educational Psychology.

In addition to their degrees, Damaris has obtained several certifications. In June 2017, they earned the Not-for-Profit Certificate I from the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants). Furthermore, they obtained the Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT Professional certification from Blackbaud in November 2020. In 2021, they completed the certifications "Managing Remote Teams: Setting Expectations, Behaviors, and Habits" from LinkedIn in May and "Redesigning How We Work in 2021" from LinkedIn in August.

Most recently, Damaris acquired the certifications "Nonprofit Human Resources Manager" from CareerLearning in June 2022 and the "Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional (CNAP)" from BDO FMA in October 2022.
