Katie Byers

Business Development / Proposal Manager at A-P-T Research

Katie Byers has over 20 years of professional experience. Katie began their career in 1991 as a Reporter for The Business Journal of Charlotte, where they covered county, federal and bankruptcy courts, law firms and city government for a weekly business newspaper. After two years, they were promoted to Research Director. In 1996, they moved to Small Business News in Vienna, VA, where they served as Senior Editor, coordinating coverage for a monthly magazine that covered the Washington, D.C. area business community.

In 2003, Byers began working as a Freelance Writer for herself. From 2005 to 2010, they were Office Manager for Hope Presbyterian Church. In 2010, they began working as a Data Analyst and Assistant FSO for Spiritus Inc. In 2015, they became Proposal Lead for APT Research Inc. In 2019, they were Deputy for Operations for Safety Engineering & Analysis Center (SEAC), a division of APT Research, Inc. In 2021, they became Business Development/Proposal Manager for APT (A-P-T Research, Inc.), where their primary responsibilities include identifying and qualifying new business opportunities and building customer relationships. Katie is also responsible for planning, scheduling, and managing proposal teams and editing all major proposals, as well as editing/overseeing content for APT business divisions' technical papers, white papers, conference papers/presentations, professional journal articles, marketing, and other outreach communications.

Katie Byers completed their Masters of Business Administration from The University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2018. Katie also earned a BA, cum laude, in English from Davidson College. In 2011, they obtained a certification in Mastering QuickBooks from Intuit Real World Training.
