Lalgudi Kannan

Lalgudi Kannan's work experience includes serving as the Senior Director of Engineering/Chief Architect at A10 Networks from 2007 to 2022. In this role, they designed a next-generation Web Application Firewall using traditional WAF and ML based techniques for on-premise/cloud deployment. Lalgudi also researched ML algorithms for web application profiling and developed systems/workflows for visibility and exception handling.

Prior to that, Kannan worked at Yahoo as a Senior Engineering Manager from 1998 to 2007. In this role, they led a team of 30 engineers and was responsible for building and launching the Yahoo! Video site. Lalgudi managed front-end engineering, database, and video search teams.

Before Yahoo, Kannan served as the Chief Engineer at Escalade Corp from 1994 to 1998, and as a Member of Consulting Staff at Cadence Design Systems from 1990 to 1994.

Lalgudi Kannan completed their B.Tech.(Hons) in Electronics & Electrical Communications Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, from 1979 to 1984. Following that, they pursued a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, from 1985 to 1990. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera in February 2019 and another certification in Introduction to Data Science in Python from Coursera in January 2023.
