Kathy Hayrynen

Kathy Hayrynen is a seasoned professional in the field of metallurgical engineering, currently serving as the Vice President of Research & Development at Aalberts Surface Technologies since February 1995, where responsibilities include formulating corporate R&D strategies and managing day-to-day R&D operations while acting as a liaison to various technical organizations. Prior to this role, Kathy was a Graduate Research Fellow at Michigan Technological University, overseeing an R&D program focused on austempering and ausforming processes for armored vehicle track shoes. Kathy's academic journey at Michigan Technological University culminated in a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering, supported by research into microstructure and mechanical properties, supplemented by earlier roles as a summer student and cooperative student at Amcast Industrial Corporation and General Motors, respectively.
