Leonard Dragone

Chief Medical Officer at Abata Therapeutics

Leonard Dragone has an extensive background in the pharmaceutical industry, starting as an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado in 2006. Leonard progressed through various roles at Genentech, Merck, and The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, before becoming the Chief Medical Officer at Sonoma Biotherapeutics in 2020. Leonard currently holds the position of Chief Medical Officer at Abata Therapeutics.

Leonard Dragone attended the University of Rochester from 1984 to 1988, where they obtained a BS in Biochemistry. Leonard then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Ph.D at the same university from 1988 to 1996. Leonard continued their education at the University of California, San Francisco, completing a Pediatrics Residency Program from 1996 to 1999. Leonard held the position of Chief Resident in the following year, and then completed a Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship from 2000 to 2003. Leonard also served as an Adjunct Instructor and later Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco from 2003 to 2006.
