Alexandra Makarova

Alexandra Makarova, MD, PhD, is an experienced professional in commercial analytics and insights, currently serving as Director at AbbVie since February 2024, after holding the same title at ImmunoGen, Inc. prior to its acquisition by AbbVie. Makarova has a strong background in business analytics, having worked as Senior Director at Epizyme until its acquisition by Ipsen in 2022, as well as holding various leadership positions at TESARO, Inc. and Cubist Pharmaceuticals. Makarova began a career in market research at Decision Resources, progressing to Director, and has also contributed to the fields of technology transfer and corporate research at prestigious medical institutions such as Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital. Educational qualifications include an MD from The Russian State Medical University and a PhD in Neuroscience from The George Washington University, among other advanced studies.
