Olga Kourennaia

Olga Kourennaia has extensive work experience in the field of research and development in the biosciences industry. Olga is currently working as a Senior Scientist, Assay Development at Abeona Therapeutics since 2021. Prior to that, they served as a Scientist, Essay Development at Abeona Therapeutics, Inc. from 2018 to 2020.

Before joining Abeona Therapeutics, Olga worked as a Lead Research Technologist in Research and Development at Covariance Biosciences, LLC from 2017 to 2018. Olga also gained valuable experience at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where they held the role of Scientist III in Research and Development within the Microarray Business Unit from 2016 to 2017.

Olga's earlier experience includes working at Affymetrix as a Senior Research Associate in Research and Development for the Expression Business Unit. Olga contributed to the development, validation, and commercial launch of Affymetrix GeneChip® line of products for 3' IVT and whole transcriptome gene expression research. Olga also served as a Research Associate at Affymetrix from 2008 to 2013.

Prior to their work at Affymetrix, Olga held research positions at Case Western Reserve University, where they worked as a Research Assistant III in the Department of Pharmacology from 2008 to 2008, a Research Assistant III in the Center for RNA Molecular Biology from 2004 to 2007, and a Research Assistant II in the same center from 2000 to 2004. Their research focused on RNA editing in Physarum mitochondria, and they gained expertise in various laboratory techniques and methodologies related to DNA and RNA extraction, purification, enzymatic manipulations, quantification, and characterization.

Olga's earlier experiences include working as an Analytical Chemist at American Testing Co., Inc. in 1998, and as a Senior Laboratory Technician/Analytical Chemist at Metro Tech Systems, Ltd. from 1995 to 1998.

Olga Kourennaia attended Donetsk National Technical University in Donetsk, Ukraine from 1982 to 1987. Olga obtained a degree with Honors during this time, earning both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
