David Johnston

David Johnston is a seasoned engineer, currently serving as a Senior Product Development Engineer at Abiomed since June 2019, where responsibilities include leading design projects for vascular access devices that enhance the usability of Impella heart pumps. Experience includes roles at Abiomed as a Product Development Engineer II and Product Development Engineer, focusing on safety studies, cross-functional coordination, customer liaison activities, and mentoring interns. Prior to Abiomed, David worked as a Contract Test Engineer, Engineering Co-op at Sage Product Development and INFINIUM Inc., and a Surgical Tools Co-op at Boston Scientific, gradually building a robust foundation in product development and engineering processes. David holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, obtained in 2018.
