Principal Aerothermal Engineer at ABL Space Systems

Valerio Magri has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering and aerodynamics. Valerio has held various roles in different companies, starting with their current position as a Principal Aerothermal Engineer at ABL Space Systems since 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Aerothermodynamics Engineer at Relativity Space from 2021 to 2023, where they analyzed and designed the Terran-1 Launcher and developed thermal analysis codes. Before that, they served as a Lead Thermal Engineer at Virgin Hyperloop from 2019 to 2021, focusing on thermal analysis and optimization of cooling systems. Valerio also worked as a Lead CFD Engineer at WET (Design) in 2019, conducting analysis and design of high-pressure water jets using CFD methods. From 2016 to 2019, Valerio worked as a Senior Aerothermal Engineer at Faraday Future, where they were involved in external aerodynamics design and optimization. Prior to that, they held positions at CD-adapco, specializing in application support and consultancy in the aerospace industry. Valerio also gained research and teaching experience as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Arlington in 2011 and completed a Master's thesis at NYU Tandon School of Engineering in 2010. Valerio started their career with a Bachelor's thesis at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" in 2007, focusing on the validation of the OpenFoam code for aerodynamics applications. Valerio Magri completed a Master Course in Space Transportation Systems at Unitelma Sapienza in 2011. Valerio also holds a Laurea Specialistica (M.Sc) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, which they earned in 2010. Valerio Magri began their higher education by completing a Bachelor's degree (Laurea Triennale) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2007.
