Jim Tay

Jim Tay has extensive experience in engineering and leadership roles. Jim is currently serving as the Senior Director of Engineering at Abnormal Security since October 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Director, Portal Engineering at ServiceNow from July 2017 to September 2022. At ServiceNow, they led the global platform engineering team and was responsible for the Service Portal web application framework.

Before joining ServiceNow, Jim served as a Technical Advisor at QuanErLiRen from May 2016 to September 2017. Jim also worked as the Director of Engineering at Jobvite from May 2013 to March 2016. Additionally, they held the position of Director of Platform Engineering at Les Concierges from December 2012 to May 2013, where they played a key role in introducing SDLC processes and transitioning development activities.

Jim has also worked at Hotwire as the Manager of Software Engineering from August 2010 to December 2012. During their tenure, they led the Hotel engineering team and implemented several engineering and product initiatives. Jim further improved team productivity and effectiveness by introducing new techniques.

Earlier in their career, Jim worked at Taleo as the Manager of Software Engineering from January 2009 to August 2010. Jim was responsible for managing a team of developers and overseeing the development and release of new products. Jim also served as a Team Lead at Taleo from March 2007 to January 2009, where they led a team of developers, redesigned application infrastructure, and contributed to the development of award-winning products.

Jim started their career at JobFlash Inc as a Team Lead / Senior Software Engineer from January 2006 to March 2007. Jim led a team of developers and played a crucial role in building a web-based application tracking system. Jim also worked at Novator as a Java Developer from December 2004 to December 2005, and at Tucows as an Application Developer from October 2000 to December 2004.
