Alan Cathcart

Alan Cathcart has extensive experience in risk management and compliance. Alan currently holds the position of Chief Compliance Officer and MLRO at Abound, a digital unsecured lender. In this role, they are responsible for preparing the application for authorization, designing policies and processes, and preventing financial crime. Alan is also a member of the executive management team.

Prior to their current role, Alan served as the Head of Risk Management and Head of Allocations at the National Emergencies Trust, where they volunteered during the major Coronavirus appeal. Alan was responsible for risk management, data analysis, and providing recommendations on the allocation of charitable funds.

Before that, Alan spent many years at HSBC as the Head of Economic Risk Management from 2012 to 2019. Alan also worked at the FSA as a Senior Risk Professional from 1998 to 2012, and at the Bank of England as a Risk Management Specialist from 1987 to 1998.

Alan Cathcart obtained a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, where they studied from 1980 to 1987.
