James Squires

James Squires has a diverse work experience in the fields of policy, science, and chemistry. Most recently, they worked as the Head of Data and Digital Policy at The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) starting in October 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Policy and Public Affairs Manager at The Health Foundation from September 2022 to October 2023. James also worked at The Academy of Medical Sciences, where they held multiple roles including Interim Head of Policy, FORUM Policy Manager, and Policy Officer, with responsibilities ranging from managing policy projects to engaging with stakeholders and overseeing events. James acquired their education, including an MRes+PhD in Chemical Biology from Imperial College London and a Master's in Chemistry from the University of St Andrews. James also gained practical experience through internships and industrial placements at Novartis and the Paul Scherrer Institut, where they worked as a Medicinal Chemist and a Radioanalytical Chemist, respectively.

James Squires completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Biology from Imperial College London between 2012 and 2016. Prior to that, they pursued a degree in Chemistry, specifically an MChem with External Placement, from the University of St Andrews from 2007 to 2012. James completed their earlier education at the Royal Grammar School Worcester from 2001 to 2007. James is also a certified member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, obtained in December 2021.
