Ajay Bhowan

Ajay Bhowan is an accomplished finance professional with extensive experience in investment management and treasury operations. Since March 2021, Ajay has been serving as the Chief Investment Officer for Treasury at Absa Group. Prior to this role, Ajay was a Senior Portfolio Manager at FirstRand Group from March 2019 to March 2021. Ajay's career began at Rand Merchant Bank, where a diverse range of positions were held from February 2003 to August 2018, including Head of Fixed Income Trading, Derivatives Trader, Portfolio Manager, Risk Manager, and Quantitative Analyst. Academic credentials include a BSc Honours in Advanced Mathematics of Finance and a BSc in Computer Science, with a focus on Computational and Applied Mathematics, both obtained from the University of the Witwatersrand.
