Katie Frye

Katie Frye is a skilled research and development professional with experience in program management at Absci since May 2022, where roles have included Senior Program Manager, Program Manager, and Technical Program Manager. Prior to this, Katie was engaged in academic research as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from August 2015 to July 2022, contributing to significant microbiology projects under Dr. Patrick Degnan. Additionally, Katie served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the School of Molecular and Cellular Biology, focusing on mentoring high-achieving students. Earlier research endeavors included independent projects at the University of Puget Sound Biology Department and internships at OMSI, where Katie developed skills in scientific inquiry and education. Katie holds a PhD and MS in Microbiology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Puget Sound.
