Maria Francisco has over 30 years of experience in the field of global health. Maria currently holds the position of Global Project Director for the Local Health System Sustainability (LHSS) project at Abt Associates, a role they started in 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Results for Development as a Senior Program Director from 2018 to 2023. Maria has also served as a Senior Health Systems Advisor at USAID from 2011 to 2018, where they provided technical expertise in various capacities. In addition, they worked as the Chief of Party for Health Systems Strengthening in Cambodia project at University Research Co., LLC (URC) & Center for Human Services (CHS) from 2003 to 2005. Maria began their career as a Technical Advisor/Associate Scientist at URC & CHS in 1991. Maria also has experience in academia, having worked as a Johns Hopkins Health & Child Survival Fellow at the Johns Hopkins University Institute for International Programs from 2000 to 2002.
Maria Francisco has a Master's degree in International Public Health/International Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Maria also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University.
