Swapnil Bhujbal has a diverse work experience across various companies and roles. Swapnil started their career in 2007 as a Faculty cum Research Associate at Dr. D.Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute, where they conducted research on computational analysis and taught courses in genomics and proteomics. In 2008, they worked as a Jr Bioinformatics Scientist at Apticraft Systems Pvt. Ltd., providing customized solutions to clients worldwide.

In 2008, Swapnil joined the National Chemical Laboratory as a Research Project Assistant, focusing on plasma proteomics with a special reference to diabetes. Swapnil then pursued their PhD at CRP-Santé Luxembourg and the University of Groningen, where they worked on alginate cell microencapsulation technologies for treating brain tumors.

After completing their PhD, Swapnil joined Persistent Systems in 2015 as a Domain Team Lead in the life science and healthcare sector. Swapnil played a key role in software verification for Beckman Coulter and Roche Life Science projects. In 2017, they became a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, working on microfluidics-assisted functional metagenomics.

In 2021, Swapnil joined the University of Southern Denmark as a Postdoctoral Researcher, focusing on the development of 3D-bioprinted tissue models and microfluidics methods. Swapnil then worked at BASE life science as a Senior Consultant, helping life science companies create value from digital platforms and data.

Currently, Swapnil is a Business Developer at AcademicLabs, where they empower pharma and biotech External Innovation, BD&L, Intelligence, and R&D teams. Swapnil'srole involves providing early-stage R&D intelligence solutions to find licensing opportunities from emerging startups, spinoffs, and academic research groups.

Swapnil Bhujbal completed a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology with Vocational Biotechnology from Savitribai Phule Pune University from 2002 to 2005. Swapnil then pursued a Master's degree in Bioinformatics from the same university between 2005 and 2007. Swapnil furthered their education by obtaining a Ph.D. in Alginate cell encapsulation and Brain tumor from the University of Groningen, which they completed from 2010 to 2015.

In addition to their academic achievements, Swapnil Bhujbal has obtained several certifications. In 2022, they received certifications in Project Management: Healthcare Projects, Business Development: Strategic Planning, Design Thinking: Implementing the Process, Design Thinking: Understanding the Process, Leadership Skills for The Future, Managing Project Stakeholders, and Strategic Thinking from LinkedIn. Swapnil also received the DCT Foundation Certification from Medable, Inc. in July 2022 and became a certified SAFe® 5 Practitioner through Scaled Agile, Inc. in May 2022.
