Karen Alexander is a prominent leader in the fields of immersive learning and XR technology, currently serving as the Co-Founder and Executive Director of XR Women since October 2020, and the Executive Director and Co-Founding Board Member of the Academy of Immersive Arts and Sciences from September 2024. With extensive experience as Director of XRconnectED since July 2016, Karen focuses on developing strategies, building communities, and fostering education in XR, particularly in enterprise and higher education. Karen contributes to the Immersive Learning Research Network as a State of XR & Immersive Learning Report Expert Panelist and serves as an External Expert at the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna. In addition to roles in various projects, including as Team Producer for The Polys - WebXR Awards and Director of PGH in 360: Youth Perspectives, Karen has provided consulting services in XR technologies across corporate environments. Educated with a PhD in English and two Master's degrees from UCL and the University of Louisville, Karen combines a solid academic foundation with a robust professional background in immersive learning and technology.
