Paul Thompson

Paul Thompson has a diverse work experience in the field of technology and engineering. Paul began their career as an Engineering Apprentice at GEC-Marconi and later worked as a System Engineer at Marconi Communications. Paul then joined NEC UK Limited and held the positions of Senior System Engineer and Product Support Team Leader, where they were responsible for the technical aspects of NEC UK's relationship with Orange UK.

Paul then moved to Tellabs, where they worked as a System Sales Engineer for the Vodafone Global account, focusing on developing technical acceptance of Tellab's mobile backhaul solution. Paul later became a Senior System Sales Engineer (SSE) for the Vodafone UK/IE accounts, with responsibilities including network expansion, business case analysis, and network architecting.

Following their time at Tellabs, Paul joined Accedian as a Solutions Sales Engineer for the EMEA region. Paul subsequently assumed the role of Director of Solution Engineering - EMEA, where they were responsible for managing the EMEA Solution Sales Engineering organization and developing Performance Management solutions for major global accounts.

Most recently, Paul has been working at Accedian (now part of Cisco) as the Director of Solution Engineering - Strategic Partnerships. Currently, they hold the position of Technical Marketing Engineer - Technical Leader at Cisco.

Paul Thompson attended the University of East London from 1994 to 1997, where they earned a 1st (honours) degree in BEng Telecommunications. Prior to that, they studied at Anglia Polytechnic University from 1992 to 1994 and obtained an HNC degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. From 1991 to 1992, they attended Chelmsford Technical College and received an ONC degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Lastly, they completed their GCSEs at The Albany from 1985 to 1991. Paul Thompson also holds additional certifications, including Accedian ACE (Accedian Certified Expert) from Accedian Networks in 2016 and MEF-CECP 2.0 from Metro Ethernet Forum in 2013. Paul has also undergone Challenger Sales Training, although the institution and specific date of completion are not mentioned.
