Access Laser Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop precision opto-mechanical assemblies for RF excited molecular gas lasers and accessories.
Primary Duties:
Lead and/or contribute to designing, prototyping, and testing mechanical components, subassemblies, and packaged laser solutions in support of new product development.
Create drawings and work with machinists and other team members on early prototypes to validate your design.
Utilize both photonics and mechanical engineering principles to meet product requirements.
Document new designs by entering BOM and design data into Agile PLM system.
Other Important Duties:
Participate in all concept, preliminary, and critical, design reviews of the Engineering Department.
Drive the adoption of best practices related to design for manufacturing to assist in the transition of photonics prototypes to production.
Assist with regulatory compliance for new products as it relates to mechanical characteristics such as shock and vibration.
Support production by designing test fixtures and writing incoming inspection procedures.
Write test reports for prototype, first article, and design verification tests.
Participate in visits to key customers and vendors, which will include international travel.
Standard Job Requirements:
Highly Desirable Additional Skills/Experience:
An additional degree in the above disciplines, including master’s, doctorate, or related areas of study.
Experience with hard-seal technologies.
Experience with CTE matching of dissimilar materials.
Practical experience designing with the principles of fluid dynamics.
Experience with piezoelectric-mechanical design, kinematics, or micro-motion/manipulation.
Experience with photonics or optics design which may include software such as ZEMAX
Experience in the usage of coatings for dry lubrication, EMI shielding, Light absorption, or thermal management.
Certified in SolidWorks (CSWP or CSWE).
Expertise using COMSOL or a similar Multiphysics simulation tool for FEA, thermal analysis and fluid dynamics.
Six Sigma Green Belt.
