Upenyu Makoni-Muchemwa

Upenyu Makoni-Muchemwa is a skilled communications professional with extensive experience in media and communications management, currently serving as the Media and Communications Manager at Accountability Lab Zimbabwe since June 2020. Previously, Upenyu held roles including Strategic Communications Officer at the same organization, Communications Officer at Pact, and Project and Communication Consultant for the Trust Africa's Voices of Zimbabwe initiative, which focused on enhancing citizen agency through dialogic processes. Additional experience includes content consultancy at Kubatana Trust of Zimbabwe and advocacy roles at Childline Zimbabwe, where Upenyu developed educational materials and coordinated significant events. Earlier in the career, Upenyu worked as a Communications Officer at the British Embassy in Harare, advising on social media strategies. Upenyu is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Media Ethics and Social Change at the University of Sussex, having previously earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication from the University of South Africa.
