Brody Harstad

Group Lead, Electrical Engineering at Accuray

Brody Harstad has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Brody began their career as a Shift Lead at Holiday Station Store from 2012 to 2016. Brody then worked as a Student Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2017.

In 2016, Brody joined Accuray as an Engineering Research Intern, where their primary project involved developing algorithms to compensate for pitch and yaw errors in pre-treatment patient alignment. This work aimed to improve treatment accuracy and minimize the need for patients to be re-aligned by physicians.

At the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018, Brody served as a Teachers Assistant, leading classes on Differential Equations and Linear Algebra, as well as Digital Signal Processing. Brody guided discussions and provided additional support to undergraduate students in understanding complex topics.

Returning to Accuray in 2019, Brody held different roles within the company. Initially, they worked as an Electrical Engineer I, focusing on new designs. Their projects included replacing a third-party control board to enhance reliability and reduce costs. In this role, they utilized VHDL coding, wrote Python scripts, performed PCB layout tasks, and performed circuit debugging. The two circuit boards they designed were successfully released into production.

Later, Brody transitioned to the role of Electrical Engineer II, where they continued to contribute to new designs and electrical engineering efforts.

Most recently, Brody has taken on the position of Group Lead, Electrical Engineering at Accuray, starting in January 2022.

Brody Harstad's education history begins with their time at Rockford High School in Rockford, MN from 2011 to 2014, where they did not earn a degree or specialize in any particular field of study. After completing their high school education, Brody went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2014 to 2018. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering. Following the completion of their undergraduate studies, Brody continued their education at the same institution and earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2018 to 2019.
