Ashwin Salvi

Ashwin Salvi has a diverse work experience spanning over 19 years. Ashwin is currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer and Global Head of Business Development at a stealth clean tech startup since June 2022. Prior to this, they had various roles at Achates Power, starting as a Development Engineer and Business Development professional from February 2016 to January 2018. Ashwin then served as the Director of Application Engineering from January 2018 to June 2022. From March 2020 to June 2022, they held the position of Chief Engineer and Program Manager. Ashwin also worked as a Project Management Consultant at Achates Power since June 2022.

Before joining Achates Power, Ashwin worked at ARPA-E as a Fellow from November 2013 to January 2016. During their time there, they played a significant role in developing a program called GENSETS to increase the fuel efficiency of micro-combined heat and power natural gas generators. Ashwin also managed the LITECAR Challenge, an international competition focused on vehicle weight reduction.

Ashwin's earlier work experience includes being a Research Assistant and Graduate Student Research Assistant at the University of Michigan. At the university, they conducted research on EGR cooler fouling and mechanisms of fouling layer removal. Ashwin also explored the use of alternative diesel fuels in engine performance and emissions.

Additionally, Ashwin has worked as an Intern at Swagelok, where they refined their problem-solving skills and supported project completion. Ashwin also gained experience as a Co-Op at H.C. Starck, where they diagnosed rolling mill problems and developed laboratory and mechanical skills.

Prior to their professional career, Ashwin worked as an Educational Support Services Tutor at Case Western Reserve University.

Ashwin Salvi's education history is as follows. Ashwin attended Sylvania Southview High School from 1997 to 2001. Following that, they enrolled in Case Western Reserve University from 2001 to 2006, obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ashwin then pursued further education at the University of Michigan from 2006 to 2009, completing a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ashwin Salvi continued their studies at the University of Michigan and finished a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2006 to 2013.
