Karen Stout has had a long and successful career in the field of higher education and community college leadership. Karen served as President and CEO of Achieving the Dream, Inc., the largest non-governmental national reform network in higher education. Prior to that, they were the President of Montgomery County Community College for over 14 years and played a key role in the college's strategic planning and student success initiatives. Karen also held various positions at Camden County College, Community College of Baltimore County, and Harford Community College, where they gained experience in areas such as advancement, administration, planning, communications, and development. Karen'scareer began as the Director of Communications at the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce.

Karen Stout has an extensive education history. Karen began their educational journey by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Journalism from the University of Delaware in 1982. Karen then went on to obtain a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Baltimore between 1985 and 1988. Later, they pursued higher education and earned a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Delaware, completing their studies between 1990 and 1995. Karen also attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where they participated in the Institute for Education Management program and completed it in 1998. Additionally, they attended the New Presidents' Academy program at Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2001.
