Golam Mainuddin has been a business leader in Bangladesh for over 20 years. Golam started their career with British American Tobacco (BAT) in 1997, where they quickly rose through the ranks to become Deputy Managing Director. In this role, they were responsible for representing the company in its dealings with the government, trade bodies, and other businesses. Golam also played a key role in increasing government revenue by introducing tax stamps and banderoles on cigarette packets.
In 2008, Mainuddin left BAT to join Advanced Chemical Industries (ACI) as Vice Chairman. Golam helped ACI become a leading player in the chemical industry in Bangladesh. In 2018, they were appointed Director at ACI Limited.
Mainuddin has been active in promoting good governance and ethical business practices throughout their career. Golam has served on the boards of several prestigious organizations, including the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh Employers Federation, and Cigarette Manufacturers Association. Golam was also instrumental in helping the government formulate a new tobacco law in Bangladesh.
Golam Mainuddin has a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Soil Sciences from the University of Dhaka.
