Research Assistant, Strategy Office at ACLU

Sham Habteselasse is a dedicated professional with a strong background in psychology and research, currently serving as a Research Assistant in the Strategy Office at the ACLU since July 2024. Sham also contributes as an Adjunct Lecturer at Brooklyn College and as a Writing Across the Curriculum Fellow at Medgar Evers College, CUNY, through May 2025. In addition, Sham holds a position as a Graduate Research Assistant with DACA@10 at the Graduate Center until May 2025. Previously, Sham worked as a Senior Research Assistant at Child Trends and as an Instructional Assistant with Fairfax County Public Schools. Early career experience includes a research assistant internship at Dr. Zewelanji Serpell's CIRCLES Lab. Sham is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Developmental Psychology at The Graduate Center, where prior academic achievements include a Master of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating Cum Laude with minors in Business and Political Science.
