Kavita Bala

Kavita Bala serves as the Dean and Lead Dean of the Cornell AI Initiative at Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science since August 2020, focusing on artificial intelligence's transformative role across various fields. With an extensive academic background, Bala is a Professor at Cornell University, researching computer graphics, computer vision, and human perception since 2002. Active in professional organizations, Bala has held multiple roles within ACM SIGGRAPH and serves on the boards of ColorStack and the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago. Additionally, Bala was the founder and chief scientist at GrokStyle and has contributed as an editor-in-chief for ACM Transactions on Graphics. Bala holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
