Ian Proffer

Director of Communications and Training at Acmeware

Ian Proffer has over 20 years of professional experience in the information technology and software development industry. Ian began their career in 1995 as a Database Administrator at Microsoft, where they provided support and implementation activities associated with production SQL Servers. Ian then moved to a Systems Engineer/Technology Specialist role, where they created and presented technical courseware for MSDN Developer Series and TechNet presentations. In 2000, they became the Owner of Worksmart Port Townsend, providing consulting services to businesses. In 2001, they began working at Jefferson Healthcare as an IT Analyst and DBA, determining organization-wide application, data architecture and systems integration needs. In 2006, they joined Harborview Medical Center as an Information Technology Application Specialist, managing IT systems in cardiology and surgery departments. In 2007, they began working at Acmeware, where they have held various positions including Director of Communications and Training, Manager, Training and Education, and Vice President Consulting Services. In each of these roles, they have provided custom reporting and business analysis services, managed and overseen daily activity for consulting staff, authored, designed, and taught training classes, collaborated with executive staff on all client-facing marketing campaigns and messaging, and created, wrote, edited, and published website content.

Ian Proffer has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado, which they earned between 1986 and 1988 in English. Ian attended Eastern Michigan University between 1984 and 1986, studying Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities. Proffer then attended the University of Minnesota School of Public Health between 2020 and 2021, studying Public Health. Currently, they are attending Jacksonville State University, studying Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management.
