Paul Griffin

Commercial & Business Development Director at Actavo

Paul Griffin joined Actavo in 2009 as Events Director as co-founder of the Events division. He became Managing Director from 2013 to 2015 and subsequently Events Commercial and Business Development Director from 2016 to date.

Paul’s role involves mentoring new talent in the business, developing relationships with manufactures and suppliers, monitoring industry trends and products, delivering innovation, engaging with key stakeholders, winning new business and retaining current business, which includes all tender submissions throughout the UK and Ireland.

Paul is particularly proud of introducing the Events division into the UK & Global markets. Projects that stand out for him include London 2012 Olympic, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, PAN AM/PAN PAR Games 2015 in Canada, the 1916 - 2016 centenary celebrations and the papal visit in 2018 in Ireland. But the real success for Paul is seeing the people he brought into the company develop in their roles.

Paul and his team live all Actavo’s values but the one that resonates strongest with him is Perform as a TEAM. As soon as he wins a project, he brings a team member onto it to give them understanding of the project from the outset and gain valuable experience.

Paul considers his resilience to have helped him in his role. When an issue arises, he doesn’t give up until he has found a workable solution, by relying on his own industry experience as well as that of his trusted network.

Previous roles include co-founder of Rock-Solid Events, which he sold to SGB Eventlink in 2003 and became Events Director there.
