James Buchanan

James Buchanan is an experienced professional in international development, currently serving as Programs Director at Action Against Hunger / Action contre la Faim Canada since June 2023. Previously, James held the position of Director of the International Donor Relations Unit at ACTION CONTRE LA FAIM from September 2022 to June 2023. A significant portion of James's career, from March 2015 to August 2022, was spent at Action contre la Faim in various roles including Associate Director for Institutional Partnerships and Partnerships Manager. James also gained valuable experience as an Independent Consultant in International Development from 2014 to March 2015 and held multiple positions at Handicap International from 2005 to June 2014, including Regional Operations Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa. Early career roles included Project Officer at C.A.C. International and Policy Analyst at the Canadian Foundation for the Americas. James holds a Master of Arts in International Development from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
