Erik Vahtola

Erik Vahtola currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Active Biotech AB since January 2022. Prior to this role, Erik was the Head of Medical Affairs at Bayer Pharmaceuticals from November 2019 to January 2022 and worked as a Clinical Development Leader at Orion Pharma from November 2017 to November 2019. Erik's experience includes serving as a Medical Advisor in Oncology at Orion Corporation and a Resident Physician in Oncology at Helsinki University Central Hospital. Erik also held the position of Head of Medical Affairs at Roche, managing Country Medical Managers and Medical Scientific Liaisons. Erik’s early career includes a role as a Senior Researcher and Medical Officer at the Finnish Medicines Agency, focusing on pharmacovigilance, and as an Assistant Teacher and Researcher at the University of Helsinki. Erik holds an MD and PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Helsinki and a MSc in Cell Biology from Åbo Akademi University.
