Ariel Duarte López, Ph.D.

Ariel Duarte López, Ph.D. has worked in a variety of roles since 2009. In 2009, they were a Desarrollador - Freelance at Ventamatic. In 2012, they were an Intern at the Department of Surveillance Systems for Indra. From 2015-2017, they were a Researcher PHD Student at DAMA-UPC, Dept. EIO UPC and a Teacher Assistant at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. In 2018, they were a Research Stay at the National Institute of Biology, where they implemented a framework for analyzing the degree distributions of PPI networks and conducted research in predicting missing links in biological networks. Since 2016, they have been the Head of Data Science and a Data Scientist at Acuity Trading. At Acuity Trading, they have led a team in developing a new NLP programming network to extract sentiment and alternative data from big data sets. This research has led to multi-year contracts with some of the leading banks and hedge funds in Europe, Asia and the USA. In 2020, they became an Associate Lecturer at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

Ariel Duarte López, Ph.D. has an extensive education history. From 2006 to 2011, they attended the University of Matanzas, Cuba, where they obtained a Computer Engineer degree in Computer Science. From 2012 to 2015, they attended the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, where they obtained a Master in Innovation and Research in Informatics in Computer Science. Finally, from 2016 to 2021, they attended the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Statistics and Operation Research.
