Rafael Renteria is a Principal Scientist at AcuraStem since August 2024, with previous experience as a Principal Scientist at Creyon Bio, where leadership was provided in developing and optimizing imaging-based high-throughput assays for neurotoxicity and cardiotoxicity of antisense oligonucleotides. Before that, Rafael served as a Senior Neuroscientist at the University of California, San Diego, focusing on whole cell patch clamp electrophysiology and in vivo calcium imaging related to alcohol dependence. Rafael's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from The University of Texas at Austin, with research on excitatory signaling changes in the nucleus accumbens due to chronic ethanol exposure, and earlier research experience at UC Irvine and the UNAM Institute of Neurobiology.
