Darren Thomas is a graduate research assistant at the Desert Research Institute, focusing on alluvial fan geomorphology and rates of aggradation while pursuing a Master's degree in hydrogeology at the University of Nevada, Reno. Darren has extensive experience as a geochemist at ACZ Laboratories, Inc., and previously contributed as an Earth Science lesson writer at Shmoop, developing content on biogeochemical cycles. Prior research involvement includes participation as an undergraduate research assistant at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where Darren worked on the synthesis and analysis of shwertmannite, an iron oxide related to mining wastewater.
