Matt Rivera has a diverse range of work experience in various industries and roles. Matt started their career as an Executive Team Leader - Human Resources at Target in 2006. Matt later worked as the Elections Administrator for Bernalillo County, where they conducted federal, state, county, and school board elections. Matt also served as the Public Safety Projects Coordinator for Bernalillo County, where they were responsible for project planning and management in various departments. Matt then became the Assistant Chief of Ethics and Compliance at the Metropolitan Detention Center, where they monitored agency performance and compliance. Additionally, Matt worked as an Independent Consultant, providing expertise in public sector performance improvement strategies. Matt also held positions as an Independent Contractor at The Moss Group, Inc. and as an Owner at K&E SOLutions, LLC. More recently, Matt has worked as the Director of Community Safety and Well-being for Adams County Government, overseeing various functional areas and disciplines. Matt has also served as an Affiliate Faculty member at Metropolitan State University of Denver, teaching courses on Human Resources Management. Matt has a strong background in organizational effectiveness, human resources, strategic planning, and executive leadership.

Matt Rivera earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The University of New Mexico in 2004. Matt later obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resources Management and Services from UNM Anderson School of Management in 2005. In 2018, Matt completed the Latino Leadership Institute program at the University of Denver - Daniels College of Business. In 2022, they attended the Hispanic and Latino Executive Leadership Program at McKinsey. Additionally, Matt has obtained several certifications, including SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) in 2015 and Professional in Human Resources (PHR) in 2011. Matt also holds certificates from Rutgers University in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as various other certifications in leadership and facilitation skills.
