Umesh Bhattarai

Umesh Bhattarai serves as an Associate Professor at Adams State University from August 2018 to July 2024, with prior experience as an Assistant Professor and a Faculty Fellow of Biomedical Data Science at Baylor College of Medicine from May 2023 to May 2025. In this role, Umesh investigates human diseases and healthcare outcomes through the All of Us healthcare and genomic database, utilizing advanced data science tools to promote precision medicine research. Previously, Umesh was a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at The University of New Mexico from August 2013 to June 2018, where responsibilities included designing chemical tools, managing research collaborations, and teaching undergraduate labs. Umesh also completed a graduate internship at NCGR in summer 2017, focusing on next-generation sequencing tools, and served as a Lecturer at Kantipur College of Medical Sciences from July 2012 to June 2013. Umesh holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry (Chemical Biology) from The University of New Mexico and an M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from Tribhuvan University in Nepal.
