Vice President Finance at Adaptive Biotechnologies

Richard Chaplin has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Richard began their career at KPMG UK as a Chartered Accountant, where they worked with a wide range of companies and gained experience in audit departments. In 1996, they joined Medtronic Inc/Physio-Control as the European Finance Manager, overseeing accounting operations and financial reporting across Europe. Richard then moved on to a role as Senior Finance Manager, where they managed accounting and reporting at the company's headquarters, and played a key role in international finance operations. In 2007, they became the Finance Director/Controller at Physio-Control, responsible for accounting and control functions, reporting to the VP of Finance. During their time at the company, Physio-Control was divested from Medtronic Inc, and Richard set up the company's own finance, accounting, and tax functions. In 2011, they joined Physio-Control, Inc. as the Finance Director, and later took on the role of Finance Director/Divestiture, incorporating new companies and designing a tax strategy for the divested entity. Most recently, Richard served as the Vice President of Finance at Adaptive Biotechnologies Corp., where they were responsible for all finance support, tax management, risk management, and treasury activities. Throughout their career, Richard has implemented critical systems and processes to improve accounting and finance functions within organizations.

Richard Chaplin completed a Foundation in Accountancy at the University of Southwest England (Bristol) from 1988 to 1989. Following that, they pursued further education at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales from 1989 to 1994. Richard obtained the ACA certification from ICAEW in February 1994.
