After graduation, they worked at Clarium Capital, a hedge fund started by Peter Thiel. Joe then co-founded Palantir Technologies, a software company that specializes in data analysis.
In 2008, Joe Lonsdale became a board member of The Seasteading Institute. The Seasteading Institute is an organization that promotes the creation of floating cities that would be independent from any nation state. In 2011, they left The Seasteading Institute to start Formation 8.
Formation 8 is a venture capital firm that focuses on investments in technology and healthcare companies. Some of the companies that Formation 8 has invested in include Oculus VR, Affirm, and AppDirect. In 2015, Joe Lonsdale left Formation 8 to focus on Addepar.
Addepar is a financial technology company that provides software to help financial advisors and institutions manage their portfolios. Addepar was founded in 2009, and Joe Lonsdale has been the chairman since 2015.
