Kate Harten

Scientist, Antibodies at Addgene

Kate Harten has extensive work experience in the scientific field. Kate is currently working as a Scientist, Antibody Lead at Addgene since July 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Associate Scientist, Antibody Lead from April 2021 to October 2022 and as an Associate Scientist, Production Lead from July 2019 to April 2021 at the same company. Kate also worked as an Associate Scientist at Addgene from January 2019 to July 2019.

Before joining Addgene, Kate worked as a Senior Research Associate at Intellia Therapeutics, Inc. from 2018 to 2019.

Kate gained valuable laboratory experience working at Addgene as a Research Laboratory Technician II from 2016 to 2018, Research Laboratory Technician from February 2016 to June 2016, and Laboratory Technician from 2014 to 2016. Kate supported lentiviral and AAV production teams, performed transfections, harvested virus, and assisted in quality control procedures.

Kate pursued their undergraduate studies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where they majored in Biology and Biotechnology from 2010 to 2014.

Kate also worked as a Database Assistant at United States Biological in June 2013 and held various roles at Salem Academy Charter School, including Administrative Assistant from 2010 to 2013 and Service Learning Intern from 2009 to 2010.

Additionally, Kate has experience working as a Nursery Teacher at First Church in Salem from 2006 to 2010.

Kate Harten holds a Master's degree in Biotechnology with a concentration in Bioinformatics from The Johns Hopkins University, which they completed from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology with a minor in Spanish from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where they studied from 2010 to 2014. Kate has also obtained additional certifications including a "Protecting Human Research Participants Certificate" from the National Institutes of Health Office of Extramural Research in February 2015, a "Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure in Biology" from the Massachusetts Department of Education in August 2013, a "Heartsaver First Aid" certification from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association in March 2016, and a "Training for Responsibilities of Shippers/Cargo Agents for Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air" certification from The International Civil Aviation Organization in March 2016.
