John Gabis MD FAAFP CPE has an extensive work experience in the medical field. John started their career as a Physician at Adena Health System in 1990 and continues to work there as the Medical Director of Community Partnerships. In their role as the President of Adena Medical Group from 2018 to 2021, they led their colleagues to provide comprehensive family medicine care to patients in Southern Ohio. John also served as the Program Director for the Traditional Rotating Internship/Transitional Year Residency from 2016 to 2019 and as the Chair of Adena Medical Group Governance Council from 2017 to 2018. John was the Senior Medical Director of Primary Care at Adena Health System from 2015 to 2018.

In addition to their work at Adena Health System, John was the Executive Director of PACCAR Medical Education Center from 2007 to 2011 and served as the Medical Director of Partnered Physicians from 2004 to 2007.

John also held a significant role as the Ross County Coroner at Ross County Coroner's Office from 1993 to 2019. During their time there, John developed the office into a fully staffed and functioning Coroner's Office, improved technology use, and led efforts to combat the opioid epidemic in the county.

Furthermore, John was the President of Chillicothe Family Physicians from 1990 to 1997.

John Gabis MD FAAFP CPE pursued their Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at Ohio University from 1979 to 1983. Subsequently, they attended the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine from 1983 to 1987, where they obtained their Medical Doctor (MD) degree.
