Samir Dash has over 25 years of work experience in the power and renewable energy sector. SAMIR started their career as an Engineer at Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd. and then moved on to Hindalco Industries Limited, where they worked as an Engineer to the Deputy General Manager. During their time at Hindalco, they successfully commissioned a 67.5 MW thermal power plant.
Afterwards, Samir joined Essar as a DGM Project, where they played a key role in the development of a 2 X 600 MW Super Thermal Power Plant. SAMIR was responsible for various aspects of the project, such as obtaining a captive coal block, land acquisition, water clearance, and finalizing contracts.
SAMIR then worked at Alstom Power as a Project Manager, where they handled a Rs 250 Crore Cogen Power project at Bokaro SAIL. Here, they improved project profitability and receivables, and managed contracts and claims.
Following that, they worked at ACME Cleantech Solution Limited as a GM - Business Development Solar, where they kick-started the company's solar business. SAMIR also played a significant role in formulating solar policies and tariffs and signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in Gujarat and MP for 40 MW.
Samir then joined Bharti Infratel Limited as a GM - Technical, where they were responsible for energy management for cell towers. SAMIR successfully solarized 500 cell towers, reducing carbon footprint and displacing diesel.
Afterwards, they worked at Spice Global as the Business Head of the Solar Energy Division before joining Moser Baer Solar Ltd as the VP of Engineering and O&M. At Moser Baer Solar, they gained experience in executing MW and KW scale solar projects and understanding various solar PV technologies.
Currently, Samir works as the Joint President - Operation (Renewable Business) at Aditya Birla Group, where they are responsible for the renewable business of the conglomerate. SAMIR oversees operations across 36 countries with an employee strength of over 130,000.
Samir Dash completed their Engineer's Degree in Electrical from U C E Burla, from 1988 to 1992. Prior to that, from 1982 to 1988, they attended D A V School, where they did not receive a degree or pursue any field of study.
